Sending Notifications to 255.255.255.255 ???

Hi, 
we try to send notifications with class Snmp and its trap method to the broadcast address 255.255.255.255
Unfortunately we do not get any notifications on the SNMP manager side.
Is it generally not possible to send notifications to this address? Do the sockets for the Snmp connection have to be configured differently then it is currently done?
