Compile errors when building a Windows agent

With the changes described in my posting earlier today, the agent++ library
seems to build fine under Windows and pthreads.

The next problem is proving more intransigent, however.

Trying to build an actual agent, include agent++.h causes more than 100 errors
of the following general form:

c:\program files\microsoft visual studio\vc98\include\ios.h(146) : error C2872:
'streambuf' : ambiguous symbol

I have tried putting the "directories to search for include files" in various
orders, but I have not been able to get rid of the above message. I'm not even
certain what the error message meansm but so far I have not been able to get rid
of it.

It puzzles me that I can build the agent++ library (which also includes
agent++.h) without any problems, whereas I get this error at compile time when I
try to build an executable agent. Something strange must be going on, but I
don't know what....

Anyone have any ideas?
