INFORM - REPORT - SET

This has to be easy, but after spending several days on it, I can't get it
to work. So in sheer desperation, I thought I'd come grovelling for help.
The basic problem is that I don't understand how much bookkeeping snmp++
does and how much I have to do for myself.

Using SNMPv3, I have some code that whose engine is acting as a classical
manager.

First I receive the engineID, engineTime and engineBoots of a client by an
out-of-band mechanism.

I then receive an INFORM from that client and, via a callback send a
REPORT. This seems to work. However, while still inside the callback, I
next send a SET. This is where I get confused.

Simply put, what is the correct mechanism to set all the
msgSecurityParameters (including stuff like the msgAuthoritativeEngineTime,
which may be different from the received out-of-band value because time has
passed) correctly for the outgoing SET?

Sorry if this is really obvious to most people, but it sure isn't obvious
to me!
