Yes, this may be an option. There is too little info about the problem. We
do not know which technology has been used for servers (e.g., are they also
written in C++? in Java? Maybe in both? Will there be any other servers in
future? etc.). Should we assume that the SNMP agent will be always present?

Thus, it is difficult to say if it is reasonable to involve AgentX here. My
first impression was that a small custom solution would be best in most
cases - and could be easily extended in future e.g. to enable monitoring
through web services etc.
