[SNMP4J] Is anybody extending the Variable class?

Hi,

In an email exchange with a SNMP4J(-Agent) user, the
idea came up to use custom Variable sub-classes that
internally change their value at a high rate. With
the current design of SNMP4J this can lead to BER
encoding issues in out-bound communication of SNMP4J-
Agent.

Since the early days I wanted to fix the design flaw
of having made Variable an abstract class. My original
plan was to shift this fix until the 2.0 release.

Since 2.0 is "reserved" for the J2SE 5 porting, I now
would like to make this change a bit earlier.

So my question is: Does currently anybody is extending
Variable and thus has objections to make it an interface
and move the abstract class implementation to a new
class called AbstractVariable?

Best regards,
Frank
