[SNMP4J] SNMPv3 LocalEngineID for traps

Hi All,

 

      For SNMPv3 traps,  Does the trap receiver need to know local engine ID of the trap sender before it receives the trap?  

 

      Am reading different on Internet and found some of the implementations mention, will require local engine ID of the device to process traps. Either the user need to manually enter or using discovery mechanism engine ID will be updated and then traps will be received.

 

      Using SNMP4J, trap receiver it receives SNMPv3 traps without any knowledge of trap sender Engine ID?  Can someone help me understand why this difference and what does the standards say?

 

       With respect to EngineID, how is it different for Traps and INFORMS,
