[AGENT++] Question concernigt an errorneous call of a set-request on a read-only object

I'm currently implementing some tests here and errorneously tried to perform a set-request on a read-only object. I was surprised to see that a "MibEntry::cleanup_set_request" on that object was called, even though a "MibEntry::prepare_set_request" never could succeed. A short look inside the code ( "Mib::process_set_request")shows that a cleanup is always performed, regardless if a previous "prepare_set_request" succeeded or not.  Would it be better by both performance and robustness to perform a cleanup only if a "MibEntry::prepare_set_request" succeeded before?
