I know this question gets asked a great deal, but here is the step-by-step of my problem:

$ uname -a
Linux localhost.localdomain 4.8.6-201.fc24.x86_64 #1 SMP Thur Nov 3 14:38:57 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

$ tar xvf snmp++-3.3.7.tar.gz
$ cd snmp++3.3.7
$ autoreconf -i --force
$ ./configure
$ make
$ sudo make install

$ ls /usr/local/include
libsnmp.h snmp_pp

$ ls /usr/local/lib
libsnmp++.a libsnmp__.so  libsnmp++.so.33.0.6 libsnmp++.la libsnmp++.so.33 pkgconfig

$ cd ..
$ tar xvf agent++-4.0.6.tar.gz
$ cd agent++-4.0.6
$ autoreconf -i --force
$ ./configure
checking if libsnmp++ is wanted... (cached) yes
checking if libsnmp++ wants a prefix... (cached) no
checking for snmp... no
checking if libsnmp++ is in /usr/local... no
checking if libsnm++ is in /usr... no
configure: error: Cannot find suitable libsnmp++ library

So, following all of the instructions provided and using the system default paths, why does this fail and what can I do to fix it?

Thanks.

V.
