[SNMP4J] How does the ResponseListener work?

Hi,

I tried a simple example to send a snmpget with and without 
ResponseListener: Asynchronous en Synchronous.
But how doest the ResponseListener work? Is it a sort of thread that 
waits (in a loop) until a ResponseEvent has arrived? Or is it something 
else?
