[SNMP4J] Do I need a listener?

Hi,
I am sending v1 Traps via:

snmp.send(pdu, target, null, listener);

One of the parameters is a listener, however, it doesn't seem to be called.  Do I need to provide one if I am only sending Traps?  And if not, can I just pass in null?
